Plein air painting on a hot summer’s day

07.08.2018

Monet and his impressionist haystacks, “how hard can it be?” I thought. So off I went on a hot summer’s afternoon loaded down with my paints and easel and set up in the middle of a meadow. I was keen to capture the summer feeling but not quite finished and the farmer on his tractor came into view as he started to load up his hay bales. For the rest of the picture I used my imagination and the farmer came over to inspect what I was painting and to say sorry for taking away my subjects. I was glad of the opportunity to thank him for that wonderful view that I so enjoyed painting.
